Summary: Worth the price
Comment: I am a surfer and was debating whether to get a GO-PRO or this video camera. As I really did not want a lot of closeups of myself, I wanted to film others, so I chose this camera.
I am very happy with the camera so far. It is really ease to use, the buttons are big and the viewing screen is crisp. The video quality is very good, it's been very gloomy here and the surf videos I took are good. The video works just as well in sunny conditions.
It works real well in the water, my daughters were using it in the pool and the underwater pictures and video are great. It has a cool 29 photo sequence shot although the only detraction is the picture stills are a little too low resolution (2Mb). Be sure to zoom!

Summary: VPC-WH1 Is Low Quality and Sanyo Knows It
Comment: Sanyo VPC-WH1: Sanyo has low quality and does not stand behind product. Bought for a beach vacation and to record kids' baseball games (husband works out of state). No longer have vacation video and can't record games. First time used in water (snorkeling) camera leaked, ruined memory card (images lost) and camera no longer functions. We had made sure all covers were completely closed, wore a wrist strap and did not "jerk." 30 minutes later bubbles escaped from camera. Followed "wash" instructions per manual. No luck. Contacted customer support and supervisor. 90 day warranty on labor no exceptions. Emailed sanyoservice@custhelp.com and mailed corporate headquarters further clarifying our position - no response. The fact that Sanyo only warranties for 90 days says they know their product is low quality and they have to set a very short warranty period or lose money. They also obviously don't care about customer satisfaction.

Summary: Waterproof. As long as you don't get it wet.
Comment: This camera was purchased for a very specific purpose. To use in the water. I can forgive the image quality and user controls (or virtual lack thereof) because this was a purpose built camera. Well, the first time we got it wet, it died. we were able to pull off about 2 minutes of footage shot in a swimming pool before it died. Luckily, the pool was a test before using on our vacation. So, anyway... that's $[...] bucks down the drain. Ha, ha... get it?? "drain".
Update: According to Sanyo, any water damage is "Customer Neglect".
Update # 2: Sanyo will repair my camera for $[...]

Summary: great fun camera
Comment: This camera is very good, from the color to the 720p video. i bought it almost a year ago and it still works great. the underwater feature is very cool and fun. my only problem with this camera is when i bought it 10 months ago and the price has dropped about $70, but im glad i got it when i did because i needed a new camera. i would recomend this camera to anyone.

Summary: I wish this camera was worth buying.
Comment: I really wanted this camera to work. It was perfect for what me and my son wanted it for. I have now gone through 2 in a little over 2 months. The first one just quite working one day. I was download the video to my PC and it just powered off and wouldn't power back on. I contacted Sanyo who put me in contact with a repair shop. That Repair center said I should mail the camera in but could not tell me when I would get the camera back. I decided that since I had the camera less than 30 days that the best thing to do was to return it to Amazon.com. Once it was returned I ordered a new camera exactly like the first one. This time the camera lasted just over a month. Just long enough that I couldn't return it to Amazon.com. In this case the camera didn't just stop working. I was filming in a pool at a Birthday party in 2 feet of water with all the compartments closed and the camera powered off. I could turn it back on but just for a second. After many failed tries to turn the camera back on I dried it off and opened the compartment for the memory card and water ran out. I will buy a waterproof video camera but it won't be a Sanyo.
