Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Mighty High Price... Comment: I use Apples at school for video editing, and every single one of them has this waste of plastic tethered to them. First, this is essentially a one button mouse, despite it being described as "multibutton." The right button function is nonexistent, and the side buttons only work when I over-grip the mouse tight enough, but of course not when I actually want them to work. The scroll button is prohibitively small, and I have yet to find one that works properly except when brand new. At best, most only seem to scroll up - frustrating, considering I tend scroll down more than in any other direction. The cord is too short and very thin. Yes, it is designed to be plugged into the keyboard, but it is still a poor design, as if they were trying to save a few cents on wire or something, rather than just manufacture a normal length of cord. All this for $50! You end up paying for looks as well as a daily lesson in keyboard shortcuts just to avoid using it. Why don't they just reverse engineer one of Microsoft's models that sell for half the price, even if they do not look as hip, but at least actually work? Customer Rating: Summary: As per other reviews: terrible Comment: I've been using these mighty mice since they came out and I'm finally saying enough! The trackball has to be cleaned constantly or it jams up with the only method of cleaning it some arcane process of finding a fibre-free cloth and 'ethanol.' I've been using iKlear and a clean sheet of paper. But this is insane! A mouse shouldn't be this much labour. I don't have a problem with the various functions it has though. I disabled the side clicking function because I would always inadvertently squeeze the mouse and set off whatever I had programmed. Overall, a very disappointing product from the best in computer manufacturing and design. It's a little pricy, as every apple product, but it's definitely worth it! Customer Rating: Summary: Not for everyday use Comment: I work as a graphic designer and am on a Mac 8 hours a day or more. When my second Microsoft Intelipoint mouse in a year stopped working, our IT coordinator suggested I try the Mighty Mouse. At first I was intrigued, but my delight faded quickly. Firstly, the scroll ball is too susceptible to hand oils and dirt build up, leaving it inoperable. Even if you clean it with an alcohol soaked cotton swab, it is doomed by it's design to keep "clogging" up. Secondly, the programmable buttons are limited at best. I wanted to set it up to zoom in programs like Illustrator and Photoshop for detail work, but they only do a general zoom, not the program specific. Thirdly, within a week my wrist started to ache. I have used various mice for years and never ran into wrist pain. I know ergonomics are somewhat subjective, but I was surprised how quickly my wrist rejected this mouse. All that taken into account I switched back to my malfunctioning Microsoft (boo!) mouse and am still searching for a suitable replacement. Perhaps the Mighty Mouse is better suited for limited home use as opposed to a professional environment. Customer Rating: Summary: Mighty weak mouse Comment: This mouse sucks. I've had this product for years. The scroll wheel doesn't work. It isn't sensitive compared to other mice. To scroll down I have to click the sidebar which means more wrist effort. My wife's Lemel mouse was 25% the cost and is much more functional because it requires 25% of the wrist effort to move the cursor in the window and the scroll wheel works. This product should be recalled. This is the second bad Apple mouse I've owned. Basta. The only thing this mouse has going for it is the Apple look. More Reviews
