Summary: great for mac
Comment: this card reader needed the latest software update, but once running it is very quick and accurate. Sometimes the fields get switched in address book but little effort to correct. This is a very handy gizmo!

Summary: A Bad Experience
Comment: After installation on a Vista machine, the software does not understand that it has been registered or updated and keeps nagging. It scans one card and stops. You must tell it to scan each card individually. So I tried it on my XP machine. Same results. I chose this product because it featured international business card recognition. It has a country selection function. After forcing it to scan and OCR about 20 cards, it did not capture one single company name and the error rate on the rest of the information was about 50%. It is faster to manually type cards into a database than to wrestle with this product. It does make an attractive paperweight however.

Summary: This is a HORRIBLE product. Do not buy it.
Comment: For years I have been trying to find a device that would scan business cards for the Mac just as easily as Corex Cardscan scans business cards for the PC. This product is NOT it. It does not work. I studied computer science at a major university. I could not figure this product out and make it work. The software is weird, flaky, and inscrutable. The install disk would not even boot until I downloaded a patch and installed that first. It's got the worst human factor design of any product I have seen. Everything about its operation is counter intuitive--when you get it to work. Basic stuff like converting all caps to cap/lower case doesn't seem to exist. Bottom line: you will be bitterly disappointed with this product. Mac users expect that you plug in a device and it works--this is so far from that ideal it is laughable. Plus, after years of stalling, Corex finally has Cardscan for the Mac, which I am using now right out of the box. I am very happy with it. Use that instead. Comment: The software is very slow and cumbersome. The unit I purchased would never scan a business card after many attempts of loading and unloading of the software and even working with technical support. My recommendation is not to purchase this item.

Comment: The IRISCard Pro 4 is one of the most handy gadgets around. I had never even heard of a business card scanner until I came across the IRISCard that my colleague had. It wasn't long before I went and got one of my own. I no longer have to keep all those business cards that I collect on my desk or in my bag, or basically anywhere else I end up keeping them. The fact that it is so portable is the best part. I bring it along with me to my meetings and can actually just plug and scan right after the meeting is done. It has saved me a lot of time and has definitely lessened my clutter and kept me just a little bit more organized.
