Customer Rating: Summary: works as specified Comment: After finding a good position in the corner of the bottom floor room, reception in the room above improved dramatically over what I had before.
Customer Rating: Summary: Buyer BEWARE - ITS JUNK ! Comment: I have a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and been an EE for over 15 years. Bought this antenna and did lots and lots of testing with advance software and equipment. No gain at all. Its pure junk. Sent it back for a refund. What a rip off.
Customer Rating: Summary: Scotty - I need more power - 15dBi is nice but give me 30 for twice the price! Comment: Well, Daniel Ulanday pretty much says it all, there is not really much to this type of antenna. Bought one to use in my mobile wifi/lan disaster relief vehicle, otherwise known as a box van.
The antenna is great for a quick, drive by link to a local hot spot, much quicker than booting up my 4 watt wifi with a Trendnet TEW-0A24D directional outdoor antenna. But then this Hawking antenna isn't going to transmit half a mile. Plus this bad boy isn't weather proof and it doesn't come with a pole mount, but hey, it wasn't made for that.
It was made to mount in the corner or a large unobstructed room, like a theatre, and distribute signal in a wide swath, and that is does well, but for the money is does this in spades!
Customer Rating: Summary: Powerful Wi-fi Antenna Comment: This antenna works great. Hookup was easy and it gave me full-house range that I didn't have before. Well, it probably gives the rest of the neighborhood better access, too, but that's another story!
Customer Rating: Summary: Best antenna I have found Comment: I tried a LOT of portable antennas - the commercial Cantenna, at least three different flat patch antennas, omni-directional antennas beyound counting - antennas from Asus, D-Link, Linksys, Edimax, Pacific Wireless but none of them came close.
I mainly use it with my laptop, with a high gain Engenius USB wireless adapter (Engenius EUB-362 EXT), but I have used it with other wireless adapters I have too, with the same great results. I can get a working signal with this when none of the other antennae work well (or at all). 90 degree horizontal and vertical coverage.
My only complaint is the cable is a bit thin, and I put some duct tape on the antenna to support the cable where it enters the antenna, as I was concerned to flexing here over time might cause the cable to break but it looks like it would be easy to replace if that happen - should get less cable less with a thicker cable anyway.
Very simple antenna, outstanding results, reasonable price.
